83155-MW5-XXX Unobtainium 2.1 Stereo Blank-off panel for GL1500's
THE UNOBTAINIUM 2.1 STEREO BLANK-OFF PANEL IS AVAILABLE!!
This panel provides a solid platform to mount a 21st Centruy Stereo onto the Center-shelter face up for easy viewing. There is 3" clearance between the panel and the top of the air filter housing in the front (closest to the dash/ignition key), and 3.5" clearance from the panel to the top of the air filter housing at the point where the panel/center-shelter slopes downward to meet the gas cap door.
THIS PANEL WILL MOUNT TO THE SAME MOUNTING POINTS AS THE OEM GL1500 CASSETTE/STEREO. The panel has been "beefed" up with additional support for the newer radio/stereo units. The panels come in BLACK only, and have additional "high-temp" resin and High-grade Industrial material for outstanding durability and appearance.
Many, many stereo manufacturers such as Jensen, Blaupunkt, Dual, Pyle, Boss and others make AM/FM stereo's with Bluetooth capability, USB ports, Aux-In jacks, and SD card slots that will mount easily on this panel. Many provide a "cut-out template" to make it simple.
The cost of the panel is $132.00 plus $14.35 S/H, US Postal Service Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium box to anywhere in the lower 48 states. International shipping fees are higher and will be determined by destination using USPS rates.
Interested members should PM me.
Payment can be made to Paypal.Me/Bluthundr31
The stereo/phone setup is with a $20 Dual stereo 120W (30W X 4)with Bluetooth, USB, Aux-in and remote. It works great and might give you a good idea on how to upgrade your stereo setup. Some views of the NEW UNOBTAINIUM 2.1, , ,

Well Done! Love the stamp on it too! USA!
This should help many out in the coming years that are looking to change from the stock radio to Bluetooth or however they want for radio configuration.
These are made with a 3D printer?

Thanks for the comments Newday777. I agree that it provides an "option" for dealing with the aging cassette stereo setup.
The vendor is using a High Temperature resin mold, as I understand the process. They are VERY sturdy and durable which would be too difficult for a 3D printer, if I understand them correctly.

I didn't realize you had them made and yes most likely an injection mold.
Are they in Illinois? I met a wing rider a few years ago that had an injection mold business there

Not in Illinois, , but if you can remember that GW riders name and "info", I'l LOVE to pick his brain about any information regarding the making of this panel. You can NEVER have too much information and he might be a great resource or still have contacts in the field. PM me the info if you can, , , Thanks again.

I'll be dealing with a family issue and will be unable to send out any panels until after July 1, 2019.
My brother, (Tony Garcia) who flew down to california last year just to be my "wingman" after I put my beast back together, was diagnosed with bladder cancer and is going "under-the-knife" on Monday (6/17) at Mayo Clinic in AZ. He's the best brother anyone could have, , , and all "prayers" or "good thoughts" would be appreciated.
Respectfully,
Blu

FOR ALL INTERESTED IN THIS PANEL, , , ,
The vendor charges me $132 per panel, so that is what I charge the members here.
USPS charges $14.35 for Priority mail Flat Rate Medium box to anywhere in the lower 48 states.
I prefer PayPal payments to Paypal.Me/Bluthundr31, , or simply click the "send money" tab to Bluthundr31.

Re: 83155-MW5-XXX Unobtainium 2.1 Stereo Blank-off panel for GL1500's
US Postal Service raised rates for the Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium Box (if it fits, it ships). The shipping costs are now $15.05 USD for anywhere in the lower 48 states. It's possible International rates increased also, but I'm not sure.
The vendor has increased the price that I pay for the panels also, but I won't pass that cost to members until I receive the next "production run" of panels. For the time being, the cost per panel is $132 USD plus S/H of $15.05 anywhere in the lower 48.

Real innovative idea by a member using this panel to install a Camecho 7" Touch screen stereo with lots of bells and whistles ($45).

Impressive installation, and good job!! Read more at (Page 4),

Re: 83155-MW5-XXX Unobtainium 2.1 Stereo Blank-off panel for GL1500's
Dam Post Office, (and special thanks to Louis DeJoy Postmaster General), has increased shipping AGAIN!
USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium box shipping rates are up to $15.50 to anywhere in the lower 48 states. The price for the panel itself is the same, but the shipping has gone up.
ADDITIONALLY, this last batch of panels is more of a "Gray" color instead of the "Black" that was in the previous batches. I spoke to the vendor about the color change and he had no explanation. They're still sturdy as heck and reinforced mounting tabs though, so performance will still be outstanding.

Re: 83155-MW5-XXX Unobtainium 2.1 Stereo Blank-off panel for GL1500's
********** FINAL UPDATE ON UNOBTAINIUM 2.1 (STEREO BLANK-OFF) AVAILABILITY **********
The last panel was shipped on 12/3/2021. Unobtainium 2.1 is now Unobtainable.
This was a fun "project" and I was fortunate to deal with a ton of really great folks throughout the globe. I have the original panel used to make the "mold" but I have no plans to sell it.
This project was never intended to "make $$$", simply to offer riders an option for dealing with 30+ year old stereo issues, AND putting a few smiles on the faces of fellow riders as they listen to their favorite "TUNES"!!
To all the folks who purchased this panel, THANK YOU for letting me be a part of your journey. It was a "labor of love" to provide a product that I was proud of, and hopefully it made your rides more enjoyable.
Respectfully,
BLUTHUNDR31

Re: 83155-MW5-XXX Unobtainium 2.1 Stereo Blank-off panel for GL1500's
Thanks @bluthundr31 for posting the update. I no longer have any Unobtainium 2.1 panels. I will make a decision in the fall when and whether I will attempt commissioning another mold to be made for another panel run. I am keeping track of the interest on Goldwingfacts.com.
Too many projects are interfering with my riding time!
