Re: NEED FRONT WHEEL
you didn't say anything about going down.
glad you are okay.
I have bent rims in the past, but on cars! not my bikes.
I keep a spare rear rim, no fronts though.

Re: NEED FRONT WHEEL
Didn't go down, it was a big jar but didn't even wobble too bad with the hit. Tire didn't go flat immediately, but did within a mile.

Re: NEED FRONT WHEEL
The cost of repairing that wheel may be more than the cost of a replacement from ebay.
Look here: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... l&_sacat=0
Item # 113771024352 will set you back just under $250 after shipping.
A brand new one on ebay will set you back about $530.
There are several options, you just need to decide what you can afford and how long you can wait to get it done.

Re: NEED FRONT WHEEL "found"
Found a rim! One of the guys on another forum I'm also on had one. We came to a very agreeable deal and it is on it's way.
Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.

NEED FRONT WHEEL ?
I have the same problem as Jim, but not sure I need to do anything. In slow traffic, about 20-30 mph, a rock about 4” in diameter appeared from under the car I was following on my 2005 GL-1800 trike. I tried to swerve enough for it to pass between my front wheel and the left rear, but must have over-corrected because I hit it with a big bang. My riding buddy says it was still spinning as he went by and managed to miss it. We found the tire undamaged and the rim slightly bent. I rode about 30 miles home with no noticeable vibration or apparent air loss. It has been about two weeks and still no apparent loss, although it is parked in the barn in a spot where I can’t get a gauge on the front wheel. My mechanic says any attempt to straighten the rim would weaken it too much to ride safely and the only practical repair is a used front wheel for at least $300. At this point the problem appears to be minor cosmetics, a 1/8” flare on the outer rim. The bike is 16 years old, clean but not perfect, so I don’t worry about the looks. I am disabled and only ride 2-3000 miles a year. Should I ride it as is, try to straighten the outer rim or replace it?

Re: NEED FRONT WHEEL ?
You are on a trike, so even if the tire blew off the front rim you would not go down. That leaves you a lot of leway in your choices of what to do. Be different if on only two wheels.Northwings wrote: ↑Sun May 09, 2021 6:46 pm I have the same problem as Jim, but not sure I need to do anything. Re: NEED FRONT WHEEL
For what it’s worth, I rode the bike all summer without repairing the wheel or adding any more than the normal amount of air. I wasn’t feeling well so rode less than 1,000 miles, but they were trouble free. I plan to leave the bent wheel alone unless forced to fix it.
