While it may not be shiny and new, this bike is fun to ride! Plenty of power, handles the curves well, and great on the straightaway too. Whether you are looking for an inexpensive ready-to-ride bike, or you have been looking for an older Goldwing to do a full restoration project, this is the one.
Motor was re-built at 30,000 miles by a previous owner. New brakes, tires, front fork seals, and battery about 2,000 miles ago. New LED headlight and tail-lights (super bright!) last year. USB charging outlet installed in front compartment. Includes battery tender with wired-in plug to keep your battery charged through the winter (I keep mine plugged in all the time).
I rode it for the first year as a bare bike, and it looked sweet, but I really wanted a place to put just a bit of cargo, so I re-installed the Vetter rear luggage compartment, which has brackets for side bags and 4 extra tail lights. If you want to make it a full-dresser, just strap on some side bags and re-install the front fairing (which I have, though it has a couple of small cracks).
Mileage listed is approximate. Odometer was stuck at 50,400 when I got the bike from a friend, and he said he had put about 10-15,000 commuting miles on it since then, which would put the total mileage when I got it at 60,000 to 65,000. I replaced the odometer with a used one from ebay which happened to have 63,000 miles on it, and I've driven about 2,000 miles since then.
When I got the bike it needed new mufflers, and I had a local shop put on shorty, turn-out pipes (along with the brakes, tires, battery, fork seals, etc. to get it on the road. If I was keeping the bike, I would probably install a Delkevic COM300F full stainless-steel exhaust system (downpipes, mufflers, etc.), but instead I upgraded to a 2002 Goldwing 1800 and need space in my garage for the "new" bike.
