Selling my 39k mile 82 wing

Post by NickLHG »

I’m currently trying to sell my 1982 goldwing with 39k miles. It’s posted on multiple sites hoping someone will purchase it as I’m trying to pay off my new bike.
I must admit I jumped the gun on buying my wing only to realize it’s a bit too much for me weight and size.. I’m only 6’ and 175 lbs.

I come here with one question to all of you. Is my price reasonable? 38,700 miles and it needs a head gasket change on the right side along with the possibility of a starter. It’s turning over but isn’t quite starting.. or sure if it’s the starter.. or the cold? Not a clue.
I purchased for 2200.00 and I’m hoping to get 1800.00 out of it.. I’d prefer not to do the work myself but can in the warmer weather.
Is 1800.00 reasonable? Thanks everyone.
If anyone wants to purchase or knows someone that wants a wing I live in Illinois. Feel free to leave me a message

the market may be different where you are, but for a non-running "old mans bike" in the middle of a great lakes winter, $1800 sounds wildly optimistic.

It’ll be running.
If running is 1800 doable?

Unfortunately, reading through your posts from when you joined, it sounds like you bought a problem bike for too much money, not knowing what to look for. And yes you are asking too much in the condition it is in. With the weak bike market, winter months(very hard to sell bikes this time of year in your climate), and the problems it has, that is a $500 maximum bike.
You have said in your previous postings that you don't have the knowledge nor desire to fix it at this time and have done some shade tree fixes. To try to sell with a promise of it as fixed is delusional hopes. Sorry but that is life.
An 82 that has been properly maintained and at 100%, at this time, is a limited market, even at $1800.
