1983 GL1100 I coming up for sale soon

Post by audiowheels »

Was hoping to stir up some interest,...will be offering a 1983 GL1100 Interstate for sale, probable by mid/late March. This belonged to a past customer of mine, who passed away 4 yrs ago. I had regularly serviced/worked on the bike since 1988,...the previous owner bought it new. I have since gotten it from the family. The previous owner was a school teacher,...so most all miles are from long summer trips all around the country. The title from the estate shows 139,000. Odometer shows 39,000. These are both incorrect, as I replaced the speedometer at around an actual 80,000....I estimate the correct mileage to be around 100,000

The last trip out west was around 10 years ago....before that trip, I did approx. $1800 in repairs and maintenance. The previous big trip was about 15 years ago. that time, around $2200 was spent on it. Some of the major repairs (from both times) include: engine out of bike, new head gaskets, timing belts, water pump, OEM Honda starter,...stator,...clutch plates,....any and all neccessary seals...carbs gone through,....and from the most recent time,..all calipers rebuilt, all new rotors and brake pads, new Progressive rear air shocks,,...
and more recently, new front tire just before his passing,......and this month (FEB 2020) , new timing belts, new spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, new Honda anti-freeze, and new rear tire (tires are Metzelers),...front forks resealed. Front forks are tight, clean and hold 20 pounds of air as they should.

About the cosmetics,..this is a beautiful bike. A fair amount of extra chrome,...lights....and about 10 years ago, a custom 2 tone paint job done, with some hand stenciling, at a cost of over $2000....also, a new Corbin color matched seat ($800) ..the seat was still in the box from Corbin when I got the bike, and I have just installed it on the bike. The color is a dark metallic green, main color, with black panels, and gold pin striping.

All electrics, lights, horn, charging, starter,...all work as they should.

Previous owner installed a new Sony CD player and speakers about 6 yrs ago...there is no antennae,..it was only used to play CD's, and for the clock

I rode the bike some the past 2 seasons,....it will start at just a touch of the button (as long as it hasn't sat too many weeks),..no choke, and no cold blooded running issues...runs really well.

I see these GL1100's on the forums all the time, the nightmare bikes people buy,...that seem to have endless problems and issues...this is a bike that will only need a license plate, to start enjoying.......

Asking price will be $2500..... reasonable offers will certainly be entertained. Bike is located in Virginia near Roanoke.

All manuals, owners and service,...as well as tool kits and a cover are included.

*********the only negative, is despite always stored fairly full with gas,..there is some rust visible in tank. It has been this way a few years,...it has never effected carbs as far as contamination. Fuel filters have always been kept fresh...carbs have never needed cleaning due to the rust.

Any questions,...please ask...! pictures will come when ad is listed.
