Front Fender L and R Covers GL1500

Post by boomjunkie »

Greetings to All, I have been looking high and low for the the left and right covers for the front fender on my 1998 GL1500se. The part numbers are # 61104-MN5-000YC for the right side and # 61114-MN5-000YC for the left side. At this point I know I may never find them new and the color that will match. If anyone know where I might find a set, please let me know. Guess, I will have to learn how to paint with a small spray gun of a rattle can.
Keep riding happily, safely and stay health.
Thanks,
Boomjunkie

Check out Cyclemax. Seen these on its web site

Thank you, I usually shop Cyclemax quite often, but never for plastic parts. I guess I overlooked them in the accessories area. Gotta learn to paint now.

Finishing up painting my 1500 with a suitable alternative to Honda's Pearl Glacier White. Did this because I repaired a panel with new paint. Installed the panel on the bike and could notice that after some 25 years the original OEM clear coat had yellowed. Enter C-19 and it was a good time to have a fair size project to keep busy.

Using Hyundai's Stormtrooper Pearl White, very close match. Always wanted to learn about spray guns and have now accomplished this aim - tick in the bucket list box. First time doing a base colour, mid pearl and clear coat as well. There are 30 pieces of plastic of varying sizes that comprise the main plastic surround of the 1500, this is not including the trim plastic parts such as the shelter cover, dash, rear pockets and such - painted these as well. You can get custom paint that can be put into a spray can - best if possible, or you can try to colour match - never works very well. For spray guns, I'd get an inexpensive spray gun, 0.8 mm nozzle for spraying colour, and a 1.0 mm nozzle spray gun for clear coat - thinking that the 0.8 mm nozzle gun can spray clear coat for small projects - will be testing my theory on this over the next couple of days - have a few panels where the clear coat is not quite what I want. Harbor Freight down there is a good place to go. A small compressor will be good for these size guns. Lots of info on the web and the forums. Check out the guitar forums - recommended to myself as well by another forum member. These guys paint in their basements and such and have a lot of good ideas for painting small parts such as mini spray booths, types of spray guns.

There is no downside to painting, if it's not what you want initially, go back to square one, it's only paint. Good luck.
