Hey folks,
I've been searching for a GL1500 radio to use in order to build a template for radio options. The plan is to create several solutions that can be direct fit into the radio space which would allow an owner to have either a pocket (another place to store stuff, as if we really need it), fitment for a touchscreen pad or phone, a place to utilize a single DIN radio with connection to original harness, a place for a marine grade shallow stereo with connection to original harness, or a touchscreen stereo. In order to work on this, I either need to make a quick mold of the space the radio is housed in, or mold the bottom of the radio, or simply take measurements of the size, hole locations, tabs and standoffs to work up a CAD drawing.
The person who was creating a DIN mount option from the eastern bloc nation is no longer selling them, and hasn't for some time. Those selling them on ebay, FB marketplace and most forums, want $250-$600 for them. I cannot justify paying this much for something I'd be done with in about 4 hours or less and own a really expensive paper weight. Most of those I see for sale look as though they might be worth 20-40 bucks, if it were just another radio. I also don't own a GL1500. Both of my Goldwings are GL1800 (2013 and 2018), so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage when it comes to the dimensions of the GL1500.
If you have a GL1500 which may be down for the winter, or in disrepair, or you'd simply like to get your hands on a DIN mount setup for your radio solution, I'd be interested in providing further details. For the use of the radio, I'd be happy to supply you with a finished product you could use on your own GL1500 or sell. If you know of someone that might be interested in helping, please let them know about this. If there are no interested parties within a few weeks, I'll just close out the thread and move on.

Hey
Have you seen the ad in f/s section for the blank out panel that is replicated off the long discontinued 1991 gl1500 Interstate panel which screws in place of the radio?
Bluthundr31 was having them made with a 3D printer. He might still have some.

I have a parts radio for a 1500 I'd send you, but I'm 4.5 hrs away from it and not sure when I'll be back there at this point.
