Re: Wiring harness
There was no 'regular' goldwing.
Look at the vin plate on your steering neck
Three models were
Standard- a naked bike....
GL1200 vin tag designation
Interstate- fairing and bags w/analog gauges...
GL1200I vin tag designation
Aspencade- fairing and bags with an air compressor and digital dashboard..
GL1200A vin tag designation
1st picture is the Standard. Notice that the false tank is different that the Interstate and Aspencade which have the false tank molding into the fairing.
2nd picture is the Interstate. Single color paint.
3rd picture is the Aspencade. 2 tone paint.
4th picture shows vin number sequence for the 3 models.
Standard starts with SC140
Interstate starts with SC141
Aspencade starts with SC142
5th picture shows an 83 vin plate. Notice the GL1100I in lower left corner as a reference to what you should find on your vin plate.
All this information comes to you because I was a part manager..... You have to be specific on many parts for your bike. Honda made lots of changes in the early 80s so please figure out what you have.

Re: Wiring harness
And to add to that there have been folks that have taken the dressed parts off the Aspencade and Interstate and made them look like a naked Standard so vin identification is necessary.
