WTB: Junk 1500 side covers

Post by Quick Cal »

I have a couple of missing mounting studs. I know you can get plastic replacements and jb weld them on. But the video I seen didn't look like that worked too good. I would rather try to get some studs off an oem cover and try to use abs glue.

I don't care what shape they're in as long as the studs are good.

Please let me know if you have anything. Thanks

You can fashion your own from ABS rod with some files and a drill. You can get ABS rods from a local hobby store, McMaster Carr, Amazon, etc. You can also get them from almost any Honda bike, and probably others.

I got lucky and found a junk side cover with one good tab. Wasn't the exact one I needed as it leaned the wrong way, but I made it work. And the po had tried to glue another broken one but failed. The glue scraped right off. Luckily it was a clean break and it was an easy repair.

I just now finished tacking the tabs on with abs glue. Tomorrow I'll make some slurry following Scott's instructional video and finish it up. I'll let it cure for several days I think.
