1983 GL1100i For Sale

Post by gsanders99 »

Today I decided it's time to sell my beloved "rescue bike". I made a mistake and now the fairing is toast. The rest of it is in great shape.

This link should stream a video off of my Dropbox account.

This bike has been lovingly cared for. The starter and battery are brand new. The tires are less than two years old.

I've ridden this machine all over the US. I was about to do some minor maintenance and get it ready for a 10 hour round trip in a few weeks, but now I think I just need to sell it and figure out if I'm ever going to own another motorcycle. I'm getting old.

If the link works, then you can see exactly what you'd be getting.
I don't have the time or patience to part it out. I might be able to deliver it under the right circumstances. I'm near Pensacola, FL.
I have a few posts here on Goldwingdocs, but it's been a while.
Here's another link to an article I have on my blog about this bike.

Let's talk.

I've kept a pretty comprehensive service record.
This link should let you get the service record (1983 Goldwing Service Record.xls) spreadsheet from Onedrive.

Also, I forgot to mention:

The Honda service manual goes with the bike.
Also, a set of vacuum gauges (for syncing the carbs).
If you're picking up the bike, there are some random spare parts like a complete wiring harness and a triple-tree.

Just thought I'd pop back over here and say I've decided to keep the old girl anyway.

I just replaced the rear brake master cylinder with one from an '02 GL1800, and am wrapping up the repairs to the fairing. That went way better than I anticipated. I used some ABS slurry (I've done this before) and it's as good a new, but with scars, of course.

I have some pics over on my blog. https://drgerg.com/2022/02/21/the-rescue-continues/

So we can close, or remove this whenever it is necessary.

Thanks!

Thanks for the nice words!

I got the old girl back on the road yesterday. Here's a link to my blog post about that.

I used the ABS slurry method of repair, and the results are fantastic.

IT LIVES! We just completed a 550 mile round trip last weekend. One thing I noticed is that 200 miles of 80+ mph riding does have an impact on the old girl. So on the return leg, I took it easier with around 72 mph being the high speed. She did much better.

All in all, a wonderful ride.
