Welcome neighbor.

You are probably already aware but there is a required bracket that goes with the aftermarket garnish. If your bike has the aluminum/black plastic garnish now and you want to upgrade, make sure you get the bracket and the longer screws that hold it.

You should also know that this is not aftermarket - it's Honda OEM, they call it "windshield garnish." It was used on the GL1500 the last few years of production. The part number is 64120-MAM-A00. You can see mine in the picture below. It had either a "Honda" logo or the anniversary logo as mine has.

The special bracket you will need is part number 64135-MAM-000

Thanks for the Information. I thought the Windshield garnish was aftermarket. I was able to order them from Honda with the part numbers you provided. Also, I'm just wondering about the longer screws you were talking about Andy. Do they come with the bracket? If not I'll probably need to order them as well.

Thanks again for your response

Any chance there's a how to article or video for the conversion?

The chrome version came factory on the SE models. It was also sold as an aftermarket item by Add-On, Showchrome, etc. for those wanting to upgrade their bikes from aluminum.

Check out the How-To articles for any of the headlight bulb articles. Here's one:

That clearly shows the lower garnish bracket which is mounted above the headlight.

Thanks Andy, I hope the weather clears up for you guys up in Maine pretty soon. I figure it's going to be at least another 2 weeks for us here in North Central Mass.

I know the mountains are still a bit slick but I'm good. Been out several times already. Headed out tomorrow in fact.

Ride safe.

Well, I thought I had the Garnish and lower garnish bracket on order, but they emailed me that the Windshield garnish is out of stock and it's not being manufactured anymore. :(
I guess I'll focus on getting the cornering lights working.

Thanks again

Larry
