‘84 NAKED GL1200: PRISTINE. Only 33,000 mi.

Post by Randalls84GL1200std »

An older gentleman acquaintance in my locale has a ‘98 Valkyrie that I’ve been watching and wanting for awhile and he just told me that he’s about to put it up for sale and is giving me the first chance to purchase it before he advertises it. I can’t afford two bikes (and don’t need two) so this beloved beauty which I ride daily on my commute back and forth to work (and will continue to do so until it sells) is being put up for sale. It purrs like a big cat, runs strong and smooth as silk, idles steady at 1,100 RPM just as it should, revs up instantly without any hint of hesitation, temperature gauge works as it should and has always shown to run in the normal temp range. Has never overheated nor has it ever tried to. In other words, the bike runs like new or as good as it looks (which is like new). The only thing not working is the fuel gauge (I haven’t tried to fix that as I’m used to letting the trip meter tell me when it’s time to fill up). I’ve got the original owner’s original purchase receipt from 1984, his original State vehicular registration for it, original owner’s manual, and his METICULOUS service records since new. And of course, those things will go with the bike. The original owner was an older gentleman who passed away 3 years ago. By the way, neither he nor I have ever dropped the bike.
The bike’s got a brand-new braided-steel rear brake line and brand-new rear pads (3 months ago). Brand-new speedo/odo cable (2 weeks ago). Coolant system was just drained and refilled with new NON-silicate coolant as required (2 weeks ago). Rear end drained and refilled with new Valvoline 80W-90 hypoid gear oil (6 months ago). Engine oil & filter changed every 3,000 miles (Shell Rotella T6 full-synthetic both times I’ve changed it). The carbs were cleaned up and synced just before I purchased the bike and it has run perfectly the whole 4,000 miles I’ve put on it.
Anyone who is looking for a VERY WELL CARED FOR, low-miles, ready to go & show, ride anywhere/any distance, BEAUTIFUL SHOW-QUALITY, CLASSIC FACTORY-NAKED GL1200 GoldWing, you just found it. Anyone riding this bike will be as happy as a gopher in soft dirt!

JoeCoolsUncle,
I don’t know how you missed the photos of the bike, Joe. There are several right there in the YouTube video I attached. I thought maybe it didn’t get attached when I first read your response, but I scrolled on down and there it is, a video full of photos for anyone interested in viewing the bike.
I’d like to get $3,900 for the bike.

…I didn’t forget the photos Joe. There are plenty of them in the video for anyone interested in viewing the bike. One click pulls up several full screen photos instead of 7 or 8 clicks to enlarge each photo individually. Less labor intensive :-)

If I was in the market, I would have no problem giving you your asking price for that gem Randall. Great pics. I will be forwarding this to some friends.

Thanks 4given. It’s a great bike. It’s my first flat-4 and first GoldWing (I did once own an opposed-twin BMW R1200C just like the one in the 1997 James Bond film “Tomorrow Never Dies”—BMW’s first “Cruiser” style bike). I’ve owned many bikes in my 64 years and this undressed, nimble GL1200 has quickly become one of my favorites. So silky smooth with plenty of torque. And a real classic beauty! Nice on the eyes.
