1987 Gl1200 Interstate with extras

Post by gre_lauren »

For sale is my 1987 Goldwing Interstate. It has served me well since i found it in a garage many years ago. I did a lot of work to get it going and I have taken many trips with the wife on it.
It makes good power and moves smartly for a 800# bike. Throttle response is pretty good too.
The Odometer reads 40717 but I believe its 140717
I am asking $1200 for it.
The bike will come with a Factory Honda Service Manual, Shock air pump, and a Owners manual.

If you purchase the bike you will need a trip permit or trailer. Tabs expired at end of May this year.

You can contact me via email or text message @ (253) 370-2476

Over the years I added some factory perks i was able to get and put in some upgrades.

The Good:
LED headlight upgrade with SolCal LED
Rear trunk light bar also upgraded to LED
The oil filter housing is upgraded to a spin on filter
I found a near flawless seat on Ebay and replaced the aftermarket one that was on the bike. I retained the old backrest.
Both front rotors were worn out and were replaced with Chinese built replacements. They work really well and have held up great even in panic stops. I did post on then elsewhere.
Carbs were rebuilt and all fluids were replaced and timing belt was replaced when I resurrected the bike.
Tires are in great shape they are E3's
Factory radio and intercom were installed with the factory wire harnesses. Also the auto volume and tone control.
The trunk has the factory vanity mirror and storage cubby option.
The seal on the final drive was replaced at a dealer and he showed me the gears were pristine with almost no wear.
Windshield is the wraparound style replaced a few years ago
There is a trailer hitch on the back with a trailer plug. I have never pulled a trailer with it.

The Bad:
Previous owner used to just ride off the center stand and now it overextends and is a real pain to fold back up. I never replaced it as I have a MC lift for my maintenance work. (lots of replacements on ebay)
There is some rash on the engine guards but other than that I could not find any evidence that the bike was in a wreck. The frame is straight and the panels are still in great shape.
A lady on her phone rolled into my trunk at the Narrows Bridge toll booth. The trunk was cracked and her insurance replaced it with a used one and the shop that did the work was phenomenal with the paint and finish.
There is a row of non functioning LEDs on the radiator fairing that a prior owner put in
The front garnish is missing the HONDA emblem.
There is evidence that there was a luggage rack on the saddlebags and trunk but these were removed prior to me owning the bike.
I have noticed that if I'm in traffic for a while the engine will start to get into the upper heat range. Once I get going it falls back to normal. I have not got into the red zone. (fan switch maybe)
If the bike sits for a long time it will smoke on startup and idle. Once you go for a ride the smoke stops and only a puff of smoke when you start it again next morning.

Sorry about the spacing. The Preview and actual views are apparently different.
