sidecar searching

Post by Zappawing »

Hi folks, on account that I'm old and fat and my legs ain't working anymore I am considering a sidecar for my naked 82 GL1100 .......seems like s/car manufacturers have done the way of dodo birds and democracy.

I have an eye on one or two however neither of the sellers knows if their hacks will fit a 43-year-old Gl1100

If anyone out there knows of someone with a unit for sale please let me know via this forum.

Thanks in kind

Rick

You will need to talk to a dealer who sells and installs sidecars to find out if they have brackets and instructions if you plan to install one yourself.

Very likely that you will need some level of fabrication. Each sidecar manufacturer will have a different kit for installation on a GL1100 and, of course, different kits for different bikes. Finding a full setup to fit your current bike might entail quite a search and/or wait.

If you've never ridden a sidecar equipped bike, you might want to consider a trike. Many report they are easier to ride.

The most economical and easiest way forward to use your current bike might be some variant of an Insta-trike. Bolt on while still using your rear drive, tire, etc.

Don't overlook using the Classified button above to do a large scale search.

Have you tryed DMC of Texas or Texas Sidecars or Velorex Sidecars the changes of you finding a used one by it self are slim to none.
Or try this eBay seller or this seller
