Biker can only ride until their tush hurts. A motorcyclist rebuilds their seat so to ride till the tank is empty,... again and again and... :P

I skim read through both URLs and that's exactly what I was not trying to do here. MY MISTAKE for using the wrong word.

I just WISH the admin would change my title from
DEFINE; Biker and Motorcyclist to DIFFERENCES BETWEEN; Biker and Motorcyclist, that would change the whole meaning of this thread.

FM-USA. I don' think changing the name would make any difference. The responses would still eventually end up the same.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN; Biker and Motorcyclist

(in the realm of comfort)
Bikers try to get to "X" quickly, motorcyclists will get to "X"... eventually.

ALL of the BIKERS are riding again now that the weather is nice.
We motorcyclists are hunting for parking spots because the BIKERS, back in black, fill up the motorcycle spots that sat empty all winter.

Their chrome is gleaming, their seats are clean.
My herd stays filthy, know what I mean?

I been called many things, just not defined as a biker or motorcyclist. Have always had a trunk on my bike to store rain suit and First Gear riding suit, and most times an ample supply of Root Beer on ice. Can ride in a large group but prefer to keep group number 12-15 riders. They all know if something attracts my interest I'll stop, know the way home by myself. We try to ride Get Lost Days so nothing is preplanned, days where 8 hours riding only amassed 100 miles, others never stop until fuel is needed. Ride 225 miles 1 way for seafood or 300 1 way for my favorite pecan fudge. Ain't taking bike out for a 25 mile run. Ride wearing shorts, tank top, tennis shoes and if its cold my riding suit. Don't wear logo clothing outside the garage and yes I do have a few Hawaiian shirts that are proudly worn. I ride the best 2 wheel vehicle ever made in the USA, and for that my HD buddies call me an Ass. I ride for the thrill and adventure, not to the bar or next dealer. Grew up with the hippies and remain a free spirit.

A couple more for levity.
You know you're a biker if:
your wife has ever asked you to move the bike so she could see the TV better.
you have ever had to borrow a helmet for your date.

A couple that may hit too close to home for some:
You know you're a biker if:
you have ever had motorcycle parts in the dishwasher.
your front porch collapses and ruins more than 3 spare parts you were saving for your next "rebuild"
anyone has ever said "Come move this engine so I can take a bath!"
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

It was 84 degree today so I took a ride wearing tennis shoes and cut off blue jeans. One of the scrolling messages on the license plate frame says " New Eye Test, What Color Is My Shirt". Hit the drive through at McDonalds, there was 5 Harleys to side and 3 had no shirt on. Guess that means some days I'm a biker,

I was just reading an old Wing World Mag article and in it had the phrase "every man should have his touring bike and his macho noise maker".
Perhaps that would be a good delineation between motorcyclist and biker.

I also find it strange that no one has tried to categorize the off-road group.

How can you categorise the off-roaders? They are a bit of both - some ride, and others pose.

A biker operates a machine with two wheels, a motorcyclest operates a machine with two wheels and a motor.
Obtaining the maximum enjoyment from operating a motorcycle is a mind game. Keep the mind on the ride from exiting the friction zone to kick stand down at the end of the ride.

Bikers: HD Vtwin or nothing outlook, Black leather, do rags and no helmet cool, bar hopping, ride to drink and drink to ride. Tatted up skank hoe co rider, fair weather in town rider typically.

Motorcyclist: A connoisseur of all things touring or bike related regardless of manufacturer, diligent and devoted road warrior, adventurer, geared up bike (accessories) and body, will not usually shy away from riding in inclimate weather or moto commuting.

I know this is an older thread, but I don't care what they call me.... I'm on my bike damn it.... :) This is the first year I haven't put a ton of miles on my bike. Mostly because my commute changed and I haven't felt as well as I should this year so I feel I wouldn't be safe on the bike. I normally ride at least once a week, year round and sometimes much, much more. I put 7000 miles on a 150cc scooter in less then a year (yeah baby, 150cc scooter) and the same on my 1100gl the first year I had it. The 1500, well, not so much, I've probably have put less then a 1000 miles on it since I got it 6 months ago.

I know, more then three sentences.......... Oh well, if you gonna do it, do it big

A biker rides to be seen by others.
A motorcyclist rides for the joy of the ride, regardless of others.
