Motorcycle: Whoops! No Goldwing yet, but, Lifan 250

Well, it is about time.

About seven years ago I decided that Goldwings are so cool, I need to get one. I decided this upon seeing two guys on motorcycles, one on a Harley and one on a Goldwing. The Harley was making all sorts of powerful rude Harley noises while the only sound from the Goldwing was the whirr of the gears, the quiet confidence impressed me.

Quite unrelated, in the past seven years I have moved from riding a moped, to riding a 150cc scooter, to my current 250cc motorcycle. (No, I am not a kid, just a late bloomer after crashing a 70cc Honda Passport back in 1982.)

Well, in the past year or so I started looking around for alternatives to my 250cc motorcycle. There was nothing wrong with the bike I had/have I just wanted to see if there was something out there a bit different that I might like more. My looking turned to noticing Goldwings again, and noticing that Goldwings are possibly the best value in a large used bike out there. Well, this dreaming turned to looking and talking, which led to me finding out that a guy at work has a Goldwing just sitting around that he might part with. I put a deposit on it just this afternoon.

The bike is a 1986 Special, the fuel injection and hydraulic valves will keep some problems away, but there is still plenty to sort out since the bike has been sitting for about seven years.

Oh, yes there are pictures.

Grats on the acquisition. That's what I want for my bike after next. Either the '85 LTD or an '86 SEi. Next is a Valkyrie Interstate.

Really nice bike. You'll enjoy that baby. Just got mine back running after letting it sit for about 7 years.
