Hi You Guys with the brains !
Just got my ABS sorted out,( Thanks WingAdmin). Now on to the next thing...
Since coming out of winter slumber I have found that the idle speed has increased from the normal 700 -750 RPM to 1200RPM when warmed up. Another little fact is that when I put it in gear and am just releasing the clutch to the point just before the clutch grabs, the RPM's rise to around 2000 RPM with no input from the throttle.
I know you guys like a puzzle so ...
Thanks
Geoff

You might try an ECM reset.
Make sure the engine is cold and has sat for at least 5 hours, overnight is best
Remove the ground (black) cable from the battery
Let the bike set for at least 30 minutes with the key turned on
Re-attach the ground to the battery
Start the Goldwing, but DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE
Allow the bike to idle until the engine warms up and you hear the radiator fans turn on
After the fans turn off, turn off the ignition
Restart the bike and go for a ride!

Re: 2008 GL1800 High idle speed
Glad I could help. I have owned 2 1800 wings an 02 and an 08 for a total of about 8 years, so over the years I learned a few things, Does you cruise control have the lag after you set it?Geeoff wrote:You Guys are the best!

My cruise control lags 30 seconds to a minute after pushing the set button.

Re: 2008 GL1800 High idle speed
I checked mine out and if anything there is about a maximum lag of about 2 seconds.
Is there a problem with this ?
Definitely not as long as Bill's though.
