New wiring harness

I bought a 2008 gl1800 trike that had been totaled because of a wiring harness fire started when the original owner tried to add ground effect lighting. After several starts and misses, I finally found a mechanic with enough knowledge to fix the motorcycle well enough that it runs beautifully now but unfortunately still has electrical glitches on and off (like lights go out when you try to turn on brights, except sometimes). So, I have decided to buy a new wiring harness and have it installed. I have some questions. Firstly, my motorcycle is the base gl1800 for 2008 (enhanced audio version). Would I be better off buying a wiring harness for a more expensive version (navigation, airbag, ect.) even though I will probably end up going Bluetooth for most of those upgrades. Secondly, is there a sub wiring harness for the trike mod. I could really use any advise you have for this. Thanks.

I'm not that knowledgeable about wiring harnesses but I'd have a chat with your local Honda Dealer about the differences in Honda harnesses for the 2008.

WRT to your trike kit, contact nearest dealer who installs the brand of trike kit you have. He can tell you, and may even be able to give you a copy of the trike kit, wiring requirements. I know that when I had the 1500 trike, amongst the paperwork that came with it was the total trike installataion instructions - including wiring diagrams for the trike kit.

cal3san, thanks for the advice. I appreciate someone responding. I guess your ideas are the best I'm going to get, so it's off to the Honda dealer I go (they also do the trike mod). Thanks again.
