Tail lights
Thanks for adding me. Just bought a 08 1800. My right front running light in the mirror and my upper rear tail light keeps going out. If I tap on the side of the mirror or the side of the tail light they come on. But assuming as I hit a bump on the road they will go out. So then is it a bulb thing? Loose in the socket or replace? Or a fixed issue?

Re: Tail lights
It sounds like a socket issue but no mater what it is, you will still need to open the sucker up and fiddle with the bulbs. That is the time you will actually be able to see if it is socket or bulb issue.

Re: Tail lights
Looking at a 8yr old bike! Replace the bulbs and use a good dose of dielectric grease.

Re: Tail lights
The tail lights, whether on the trunk or saddlebag, have acorn nuts holding the assemblies in place. Open the trunk or saddlebag and look for the acorn nuts. Three nuts per assembly. 8mm or 5/16" socket/nut driver is needed to remove the nuts. The light assembly should just pull out after the nuts are removed.

Re: Tail lights
Just a note for you...the wires are rather short. On the 2008 you will notice that the lights in the trunk have two bulbs. Running lights and brakelights, however the outer light is only running lights but can be adapted to be brake light also. (Mother Honda cheaped out and didn't connect the second light) This kit from CycleMax provides the correct connector to add the second brake light to the trunk, thus increasing visibility!
"On later years of Goldwing GL1800's, Honda disconnected the power to the running light filament in the two outside trunk lights."

Easy thing to do while it's apart!
