GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
Do you remember the GL1500 Tank Bag and Bracket that was sold by Firecreek Accessories, LLC? Well I have gotten permission from Quickdraw (Dayle) to start making them again. First off these will only fit on a GL1500 that has
the place for the stereo cover to attach to. This bracket will attach in the same way the radio cover attaches
I have been working very hard at making sure I get them as close to the original ones as possible. However I will be bending and adjusting each bracket by hand so they will not be exactly alike. They are made from Stainless
Steel and once installed on bike the bracket is hinged and raises up out of the way so that you can get fuel without removing the bag and bracket.
The bag part will not be the same bag that they had as it is not available. The bag I am working on will be a good sized bag with electrical connections for charging your accessories (ie. phone, GPS and such). You will have
to either wire it to your motorcycle or it will attach to a battery tender type plug. I will have pictures and more description when it is complete.
At this time I am trying to find out if anyone would be interested once these are ready to sell.
The pictures I used are from a friend that has one and also a picture found on a Google search. They are for reference only...

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
I still have one of those bags. It came with my 1500.
Looks like it is well made.
I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure I will eventually.

Do you have a picture of one installed with the bag in place (not lifted away)?

This is what it looked like with the old style bag that is not available now. After I get the new style bag done and installed I will post a pic of it.

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
I am interested and I believe there should be alot of interest with talk about these over the years. Is the bag a custom bag that your making or an aftermarket one?
It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
Ok Boys and girls, Here is the bracket complete other than not being cleaned up, still needs plastic strips put on so it doesn't scratch where it contacts bike and needs bag installed. I got set behind this week as I had to return some things that were shipped to me and were defective. I should have more parts next Tue so I can get to work and hope to have the bag figured out and installed by next Friday, (crossing my fingers.) It looks like I will have them ready to go before riding season gets here for us northern folks LOL Still shooting for $150 plus shipping but will let you know if that changes. It's been a lot of work but very rewarding...

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
Well I have been busy and things are looking up. I am expecting to have 2 of these ready to ship next week. (Already sold them, But ordered more bags today) I have a delivery coming in Monday and it takes me almost a day to sew each bag so not sure on what day they will be done. I Didn't get to keep it at the price I wanted to, The price is going to be $165 plus insured priority shipping @$22.50 to lower 48 states. I have done my best to keep the cost as low as possible. I will be taking payment thru square.com (I will send invoice) Any questions just give me a shout..

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
Nice job on the tank bag and SS bracket, Gene! !
I bought mine in 08, shortly before Firecreek decided to quit making them and I couldn't imagine riding without my original Firecreek Tank Bag! .
Best investment I made for the bike as far as convenience additions for the bike.
Great place to keep my camera, smokes, pad of paper and a pen to take notes, snacks and drinks, my cell phone, tablet plus a whole host of other items I wish to keep close to hand/easily accessible while riding !!!
With the rain cover and the addition of electrifying the tank bag, you've upped the ante over the original!
I was just now looking through an old invoice for my Firecreek tank bag I bought back in 08, and it was $175, plus shipping!
Good to see someone resurrecting this very useful item!! Well done!!

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
I sold all my bags, I still have some brackets so I decided to sell some brackets with no bag I can let go for $50 plus shipping @ $15 priority to the Lower 48 . Then you can make your own bag the way you want it.
I can still order and make more bags if anyone decides they want a complete setup.

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
Interested for sure. Do you think any standard tank bags would fit properly or is the only way to go custom?

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
The bags I use are just standard tank bags that come with magnets in flaps for a regular steel tank. I then take out all the stitching on the flaps and remove magnets. Then I sew the piping back on and add 2 inch Velcro to the flaps so they hold the bag on the bracket. Most bags with flaps would work I would think, But I would wait till you had the bracket in hand so you can measure it or even take it with you to where ever you will be looking at the bags.

Re: GL1500 Tank Bag Bracket
I purchased one of Carlleming's tank bag brackets last week. It's a very high quality product and should provide a very use service.
I prefer a smaller tank bag, mostly for maps mp3 players cell phones etc. The 1500 is an exceptional touring machine but i could never
solve the tank bag problem because of the radio and everything being plastic. This will be a welcome addition to my accessories.
Now to get rid of the snow. Lots of snow in Iowa now! very nice
product Carl.
