1977 GL1000 Crankcase breather help!!!
Hey guys this is my first post on here and I need some help!! I had my bike on my lift last night and while trying to get the bike off of the center stand I dropped her pretty hard. Luckily the engine savers took most of the damage, but the engine saver on the left side hit the crankcase breather fitting and snapped it in half. The bottom half fell into the case. I’m currently in the process of pulling the motor out and I was wanting to know my best bet as to getting that piece out. Also I need help on sourcing that part. Because I can’t find one anywhere!! Please help!!!

It's not a separate part so it will have to come from another engine block. With some luck you might be able to get it out through the hole where the oil screen comes out, which probably needs cleaned anyway.

So to get it out I need to go threw the oil strainer? Also here’s the piece.

After looking inside an 1100 case, which I assume to be the same, there is no way short of breaking the engine apart to get to it. Good news is it can't get down into anything from where it would be either. I think I would just JB weld that outer piece into the hole.

It'll just lay there in the bottom of the oil sump. All the spinning parts are above the oil level.

It won't get to the sump, it's behind a baffle that keeps oil from slinging out the breather. And no, all the spinning parts are NOT above the oil level, want proof?DenverWinger wrote: ↑Thu Jun 07, 2018 7:39 am It'll just lay there in the bottom of the oil sump.
