Service Bulletin #10 Carbjetkits
I have an 85 GL1500. Just found out about the service bulletin #10 with hesitation at low rpm. I see that Carbjetkits.com offer two kits. Has anyone purchased any of these kits? Which one should I go with? Any have experience with them?

Per the suggestion emailed to me so many years ago, I did this to my '85 GL1200A back in mi '90s, cured it and no harm to gas mileage …. I can get 50-51 still.
I purchased a bag of 8 each, "Du-Bro," flat P/N #2109, brass, 3mm thick washers, and inspected all the washers. To remove any burrs, I hand-lapped each washer on Crocus Cloth. The diameter of all the washers were measured with a 0 to 1-inch micrometer to be 0.268", meaning that when seated on the "flat" beneath the Jet Needles and they didn't contact the "cone" inside the Vacuum Piston. This is critical. In addition, I measured the thickness of all the washers. The thickness of the four washers
used were: 0.0233," 0.0226," 0.0235," and 0.02229."
Access in removing the Vacuum Chamber Covers, Diaphragm/Vacuum Pistons, Springs, Jet Needle Holders, and Jet Needles to install the four washers should be performed by the following: On Aspencade and Interstate, remove the fairing lower covers and the inner covers. Remove the top compartment. The removal of the foregoing will provide easy-access to the four screws securing the Vacuum Covers on the four carburetors.
Perform the removal of the Vacuum Covers one at a time. Beneath the Vacuum Cover, the Spring will be located. Take caution so as not to allow the Spring to "fly" out. Push the Jet Needle Holder in and turn it 60 degrees with a screwdriver. Then remove the Jet Needle Holder, Spring (very small, second one) and Jet Needle from the Piston. Slide one of the "Du-Bro" washer over the tip of the Jet Needle. The washer "raises" the Jet Needle, hence "enriching" the Main Jetting mixture. Be careful so the Jet Needle is NOT damaged! Reinstall the carburetors parts in reverse sequence. Inspect the Vacuum Piston for wear, nicks, scratches or other damage. Check the Diaphragm for damage. Make sure the Piston moves up and down freely in the carburetor. CAUTION: Do NOT interchange Vacuum Pistons between carburetors!

So basically one shim under the needle was all you needed?

Great to know. I went ahead and ordered the Ultimate jet kit. I am currently trying to get the bike to run on all cylinders (having an issue on #4). I have to remove the carbs anyway, so for $50 just throw them in and see how it runs is worth the money. I can always dial it in after I get her running. I also think I am going to remove the secondary air system because it is a real pain pulling the carbs with those lines in the way.

I love the idea of this!! I am sure I could find these washers in the UK as shipping from the US would cost £20.....a lot for 8 washers!!
Do you have any more details as to diameter of centre of washer?

Try looking in a hobby shop, they had about 1/8" dia center holes. Not a critical dimension. I have seen suitable small washers in both stainless steel and brass in hardware stores, even Lowe's has them. Might take some sanding thinner under a finger on abrasive sheet on a flat surface. Outside dia. is important so they'll fit in the recess, thickness is how far needles are raised and I strove for sameness in all 4. I found it difficult to shim the needle. I didn't feel like there was enough clearance for shims and still have a responsive needle. I ended up cutting two loops from the spring and then adding two shims. My exhaust is more free flow than OEM so I also upped the jet sizes. YMMV.
