Rear inner brake pad is rubbing.

Post by Drago_Williams_8077 »

Hello all, so I just replaced the rear tire and brakes on my 1992 gl1500 SE and the inner pad is rubbing the rotor. When I first did it and got everything back together it wouldn't push back or forward in neutral. It eased up after I got it out and the pads got hot and I lost all rear brake. I took everything back apart and bled the brakes. The bike will roll no but I can still hear and feel the pad rubbing the rotor. I pulled the caliper back off and cleaned the pistons a little more thoroughly and it's still doing it. I'm at a loss. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Try loosening the fasteners for the rear wheel and the rear caliper, check to see that the washer that goes between the left side swing arm and the axle collar (spacer that goes in the grease seal) is in place and then retighten all of your fasteners. Make sure to tighten the axle nut on the right side first before the pinch bolt on the left so the wheel will be centered properly.
Try to learn from the mistakes of others..... you won't live long enough to make them all yourself!
