getting ready for a long trip

Post by burntice51 » Thu May 24, 2012 2:36 pm

Hello, I am getting my Goldwing 1500 se ready for a long trip. This might sound like a stupid question but I am looking all over the bike for any grease fittings. Is there anyplace that just needs to be greased with a gun ????? And where might those fittings be.

None that I know of and if there are some they have been neglected for many years.

what about the final drive?

on my 1100 there is a fitting to grease the drive shaft connecting the final drive.

don't know about the 1500...

I haven't seen anything in the Haynes manual referring to grease fittings nor have I found any on my bike. Mine is a 1500.

Yes, there is one on the 1100, but not on the 1500.

If you have regularly maintained your Wing and changed the oils as required then it will be OK.

There are no grease nipples on the 1500.

Hello Wing Admin it might be quiet interesting any way I have found a nipple attached to long metal tube at the back of the engine pointing towards the right side pat of the bike.If it is not grease nipple what then could it be? is it the one that has got connection to the clutch used for bleeding? I don't know I haven't done yet the clutch. My bike is 1997 GL 1500 Aspencade. In the mean time I am seeing quiet wet same area and some drops of oil on the ground look like break oil from where do you think the oil comes from? Is it the clutch oil leaking? what do I have to do then? Thank you for your help.
Stay blessed!

That's exactly what it is - the clutch bleed nipple. If you have what looks like hydraulic (brake) fluid leaking in that area, chances are your clutch slave cylinder may be in need of a rebuild.
