This is gonna be interesting...
I'm kinda chuckling inside remembering the old movie "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner".
I'm a middle aged grandfather. Single, not really looking. Part of the reason I'm not really looking is because I choose to build English bikes inside my house. Most females wouldn't tolerate this and at my age I really don't care. My kitchen floor is ruined from the welding, but it's MY floor and MY kitchen and I don't care.
I met a gal the other day. Lord she's beautiful. Full figured*, long hair and she dresses very well. Well, she rides a bike and hangs in a gang of riders. Her's is in the shop right now being repaired, so neither of us have seen the others' bike. I've seen pictures of hers. 1988 Harley FXsomethingwhatyacallit. Turns out all her friends are Harley people too. She wants to meet me and ride with me. She wants me to meet her in a little pub just down the road from where I live on some "bike night" in a few days.
It's kinda funny really. I picture myself riding my three decade old Japanese rice burner and parking it amongst a herd of $30,000 status symbols ridden by tattooed leather clad lawyers and clerks, walking up and saying "WELL HOWDY!" You meet the nicest people on a Honda.
Wonder how this will end?
*"Full Figured" meaning really large, well shaped bre........ Well you know.

Well you can be sure that the odds are against any of their bikes would be running or rideable at 30 years old. Also remind them your wing was built here in the good old USA!

if you ask me " full figured" is worth a little razzing from the crowd, most are decent folks at heart. Those that arent are not worth your time.

Re: This is gonna be interesting...
What's up with the "full-figured" ladies on Harley's? I'm just sayin' 'cuz there's this one chick that works as a dialysis tech over in Sherman (she sometimes substitutes where I go- in Bonham). She seems cool straight up- but apparently a lot of her ridin' buds are law enforcement... but seems she gravitated to the Harley because of the low seating position I think she said- almost forgot my point though: dude be super careful around there on Thursday nights. I'm from Dallas and that's traditionally "bike night" and you'll see a lot of idiots out at that time, and you could get in trouble if you're not more careful than usual even.
I hope your rendezvous rocks bro, hope to hear a glowing report!

I ride a GL1200 and love it, Rode harley's until I got it, just to let ya know, 60% of all harley's now on the rode are 20 plus years old. My last one was a 1974 Shovelhead 74cc engine and was purring like a sewing mechine when I sold it. Just saying.....riffraff wrote:Well you can be sure that the odds are against any of their bikes would be running or rideable at 30 years old. Ok, even though more full figured, and there is always a different size for everything....more cushion for the push-in....and as long as we get to spend time with someone, as long as we are happy, that is what it is, as long as she does not pull the "it is me or the bike" line, we are ok, ya?

I just called my daughter. I was such a badass father while she went on dates and insisted that she get home by 10:00 PM. I told her I was going out for a date. I asked her how late I could stay out. She laughed! Smells of 90wt grease and oil and gasoline. I sent her a picture of tonight's date. Hawley gal....

If her smile is anything to go by, then you are on a winner from the get-go. Good luck for your future.

Re: This is gonna be interesting...
Well I just got home from my first date in 15 years. We spent two and a half hours talking about cars and bikes and growing up and....... I couldn't eat all my Chicken Piccata so I borrowed a bungee from her to strap it to my bike. I came home and put it in the fridge and thought about it all. Called my daughter to tell her I was home. You know how when you meet a person for the first time you just KNOW? There's a chemistry thing that goes off inside and it's like a narcotic. She's exceedingly pretty, nice conversation. I'll see her again, ride with her, probably go on another date, but the chemistry just ain't there. She talked too much for my personal taste and her perfume was a bit on the strong side.

sad that people make negatory impressions on others on the 1st date- i do too, i get so nervous and desperate looking - give er a chance i say , you can always bow out ,till a toothbrush shows up at someones house-- many people hate dating because the possibility you cannot wait to get away from the person across the table - course im not real picky , if shes talking i dont have to !tom84std wrote:Well I just got home from my first date in 15 years. don't need to add oil to the gas, Harley does that automatically in the combustion chamber..
