left home about 07:15 this morning and went to Zeeland, Mi. so I could pick up some parts for the Mighty CT 70 from a place called my trail buddy. it was about 344 miles total and I would have rode the Mighty CT 70 but it was raining, snowing, and very windy plus the Mighty CT 70 is 6v so I can't hook up heated gear :)

You could always pour petrol on your jacket, and set it on fire.

kind of cold out, I only had time to install the lift handle and replace a few of the downtube / cradle bolts on the mighty CT 70. I think the rear of the bike looks better with the 4.00- 10 tire on it, it had a 3.50- 10 on it when I bought it

it was just a little snow squall that lasted about 20 minutes, an hour later it had warmed up and the snow melted plus for now I stay off the main streets. our side streets don't get salted and don't get plowed unless we get near 12" of snow
yesterday I installed new shocks and all I can say is it rides much better now

Well its official I got my notice that the patient "Windows 7" is officially dead and that Microsoft Doctors are no longer providing life support, all good things come to and as they say. ""RIP"

I heard something about windows 10 having some kind of big problem as of late, didn’t catch much of what I heard on the radio as it was a busy morning in and out of the truck, anyone know what that was all about :?: :?: :?:
Armed with new information and good advice from the folks on this site, I’m headed out  to the garage to finish the brake Job I started before Christmas.

while installing new skids on my toro 824 last year I broke one of the bolts that holds the skids on, today I replaced the broken bolt. seeing that the work on the toro didn't take as long as I thought I did a little work on the gold CT 70. I installed the side stand and seat hinge, I still got a chill working about 45 minutes in 29f weather

This afternoon is flush the clutch on my 2000,1500se. I logged in to research flush my clutch when I noticed I had a message. Boy was I surprised to find out I am the January contest winner. Thank you!

The other day I roll the old girl out of the garage to go to a doctor’s appointment, when I went to engage 1st gear the bike lurched forward. Granted I didn't have the clutch handle pulled completely against the stop but I never had to in the past.

I reset to neutral started the engine and this time I pulled the clutch handle all the way to the grip. I engaged the transmission and just relaxed my grip just a smidge ( Technical term meaning just a little more than a frogs hair) I could feel the bike start to move. Ok I thought this aint good. I pulled it back into the garage and took the Tundra to the doctors.

When I got back I opened the reservoir and discovered not only was it low but full of what I can only describe as the sediment you would find in the very bottom of a fresh water aquarium when completely draining the fish tank. In more technical terms it was this slimy gooey gray green gunk.

I have to be truthful here, the clutch and accompanying hydraulics is the only thing I haven't addressed on this bike since I got it as a wedding present back in 2017 and during the over haul and flushing of everything I could get to, to check and or replace not counting the motor itself. I don’t want to mess with that if I don’t have to.

Ok so off to look at the how to's and I’ll let you know if I find anything else interesting or unusual, hope the rest of you guys are enjoying your Saturday.

Follow up:
Its about two hours later. All went well on the flush I did the pump the handle method till I got good clean fluid coming out of the system, And flushed about 4 oz. of brake fluid through the reservoir. The feel of the clutch lever is back to where I remember it to be. Now off for a victory ride, see yas’s later.

Hey Stan,

Keep in mind: the clutch is a closed system. It should NEVER lose fluid. If it is, you've got a leak.

On the GL1500, the leak is often caused by failed seals in the clutch slave cylinder. When it leaks, it often leaks INTO THE ENGINE, where the hydraulic fluid causes the smooth crank bearings to fail, basically destroying the engine!!

If you can't account for the loss of clutch fluid (i.e. no obvious leaks) then I would strongly suggest you a) rebuild the clutch slave, and b) change your engine oil.

Clutch slave rebuild is on my list for this winter as well.
