Odd Engine number
I have a 1988 GL1500 which was imported to the UK in 1990 but the engine may have been a replacement. Is there any way to find out when the engine was built so I know which year it is?

Re: Odd Engine number
Made a mistake....the bike was imported from Japan in 2009 and registered in the UK in 2010.
From everything I have read the engine number should start with 2 not 1 so I am perplexed to say the least.
Did Japanese home market bikes have engines starting with a 1 ??

Re: Odd Engine number
That serial number has the earmarks of being stamped over.
Couple numbers are out of alignment.

G'day!
My 88 is a Japanese import, also the Japanese radio stations only go up to 90.0 FM, and guess where all the stations worth listening to are over here? ...... Yes 90+
Regards, Peter.

Re: Odd Engine number

I guess you have confirmed one thing in that my radio is the same as yours. That still doesn't tell me about the engine. Although I did notice that your numbers appear to be using the same teap.
Cheers
