speedometer cable

Post by dummysales » Mon Aug 21, 2017 1:56 pm

I'm a knucklehead. Can't find any further info anywhere on this issue. I have a 70 model CB750 and want to remove the speedometer cable from the front axle gear. I know about the phillips head screw, but what else holds it in there? With the screw out, the cable hangs up on something. It'll move about 1/4" back and forth, but won't leave the gear box. Any ideas? There doesn't seem to be any kind of release tab holding it, either.

Your inner cable is seized to the gearbox drive blade.Spray, wiggle, spray wiggle..repeat..it will come off.The screw just releases the outer casing.
