1997 starter wont engage

1997 starter wont engage

bike bin sitting for a year he said I think more sitting outside uncovered been checking all relays #6 #3 all fuses there is 2 wires on relay a yellow ? brown/red if I ground brown/red it works neutral light works side stand works reverse switch works per test I pulled relays did positive and ground and got continuity the shape of this bike breaks my heart maby I can save it

Does that mean the starter works when you ground that wire? There is the reverse switch relay on the bracket under the seat on the right side and the reverse diode assembly on the right side of the frame under the trunk.

yes that is correct do I half to pull the trunk to check them

That or the saddle bag. All you have to do is remove the 4 bolts from the bottom of the trunk and raise it up enough to get to them.

that worked I checked continuity on diode then all good found the reverse switch it saw hidden under frame broken bracket and tie wrapped under frame hard to see it was bad like you suggested I swapped it with #5 air pump now to buy one that solved this now on to free up engine water got in to intake #2#4 pistons soaking all 6 with pb blaster trans fluid but it sure feels good moving on from electrical thank you so much marty
