Goldwing Trunk Dividers

Post by wajwriter » Wed Mar 07, 2018 2:12 pm

I can't believe I've owned my 1988 Goldwing since new and have just found this great product. Perfect fit...screws all lined up and fit...I've spent 10 minutes or more trying to find my wallet in the trunk and many times with the contents spilled everywhere...now the cubby compartments retain my wallet, cell phone, keys, and maps.On EBAY

I agree 100%. I've had these in my GL1500 for years now, and they are a godsend. They're made by Show Chrome, incidentally, and they make them for the GL1800 as well.

You mean those aren't OEM? Mine has them and I just assumed the bike came with them - they really help keep things like the Owner's Manual, registration, and insurance papers handy!

I/we LOVE ours, one of the first mods we made after buying the bike. The one draw back, you can not fit two full face helmets in the trunk after adding these, and on our bike, the helmet hangers where long gone before we got the bike. . . . Oh well, small price to pay for the extra organization.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.

We just bought new helmets: Bilt DWO-5 full face modular helmets with built-in bluetooth intercoms in size XL. Both fit perfectly in our trunk! Behind one of the dividers I've got the bike Owners manual, manuals for the helmet intercom, registration, insurance, and other papers; behind the other divider I've got a small first aid kit, storage box for my hearing aids, and other miscellaneous items. I've never tried it, but we could probably stuff a sweat shirt or something on top of the helmets and still close the lid.

To fit the helmets I put the first one in on the right side, with the helmet facing front, and the chin piece in the right front corner of the trunk. Then slide the second helmet into the left side, again facing front with the chin in the corner. We keep the helmets in their protective cloth bags to prevent scratches.

My wife has a Bilt Flip-up and I wear a Simpson Bandit. They both fit with no problem.
I also have the saddlebag dividers. One side holds back bungie cords and I still haven't assigned anything to the other side.

Also for organization I have Wing Gear trunk and saddlebag units.

I will say the ones for 1500 trunk are much nicer than ones for 1800s.
I had both trunk and saddlebag ones on the 15 and liked them. the area on a 18 is not as well defined for use.

I am sure that two full face helmets would fit, IF one of them was not a 5xl like I wear , lol. I am sure most of you know, helmet shells come in two sizes for the most part, XS to Xl and 2xl-5xl, and with my wife in a Small, and me in a 5xl, they just don’t both fit. . . It is what it is.

We have the trunk organizer and love it, have not gotten the saddle bag ones yet, maybe this summer, we’ll see.

Wonder if anyone makes a saddle bag that fits on the door of my MotorTrike trunk door? Don't think I can use the trunk bag with my helmet, its too tall.
