Passed my MSF course today

Post by Choctaw » Sun Apr 08, 2018 8:45 pm

Perfect score on the multiple choice test and one of two people who scored a perfect score of zero on the final evaluation course test. It's been 20 years since my last bike. I Purchased my new-to-me Goldwing in November. The test bikes they provided were really small so it was easy, fun, and a great way to really listen, learn, and apply the concepts they were teaching.

Granted I'll admit I took the risk on some 50 degree weather a few days between November and April on some short back roads surrounding my city of a population of 7000 and 50 miles till the next city with the gold wing. However, it wasn't much fun because I was constantly worried about getting pulled over even though I did pass a few police.

So anyway, I'm pretty excited and looking forward to feeling legit out on the road with new opportunities, travel and adventure open to me!

Way to go! Hopefully you'll get enough miles on her this year to need new tires by the end of the year. Keep the rubber side down.

Agree with the above post about practicing the skills they taught, especially on a much bigger and heavier goldwing.

Congrats, now get out and ride! Once you get comfortable with your big bike, make it a point to enroll in an advanced rider course. I have been "reriding" (after a 30 year pause) for 8 years now and attended such a class last year. I am a GWRRA member, so I went to their class (ARC). There was lots of great stuff covered to sharpen your skills, but one of the most critical (and VERY difficult for me) was the portion on handling my bike in super SLOWWW situations. Passed the course, but realized I still need a lot of practice!
