Part number Solenoid

Post by Doc H » Tue May 08, 2018 6:40 pm

Somewhere on the forum someone listed the NAPA Ford solenoid part number many use on the GL1100. I know I changed mine after I read it. I forgot the part number cannot find the receipt I have my hand drawing to connect!!!! I have used the advanced search and failed. Only reference was a 85 Ford F150. Does anyone remember the part number??? THX Doc H

Ford's been using a solenoid similar to the photo since the late 30's. Shouldn't prove difficult to find.

Thanks for the help. I come up with Echlin ST 404 Victory Lap F492, or if you like lawn mower parts Advance DW755 all seem to work. I think I had used the Echlin ST 404 because it fit well and delivered enough volts not to have starter problems. What I used was perfect.... I have never had to deal with the solenoid again.... nor carry an extra solenoid and starter!!!! Yes I had been left stranded before!!!! Guess I am getting old.... I like to ride.... not do roadside repairs!!! Ride on, Doc
