This has been posted a few times, so I thought I would put it somewhere where it can be easily found.
If FI (Fault Indicator) light comes on pull over but DO NOT shut bike off. Put in neutral and put side stand down, RPM’s below 1500. This signals the ECM to send the error code to the FI light. Count the number of long and short flashes. This will give you the error code.
If you shut the bike off the error code is lost - sort of. It will be retained in the ECM but it is harder to get out. If the bike stops and the will not restart you can get the FI light to flash the error code by cranking the engine for 10 seconds. The FI light will then flash the error code.
Long Blink = 10 Short Blink = 1
i.e. long long long short short short = 33 check error code 33

01 Blinks • Engine operates normally
• Loose or poorly connected MAP sensor connector: • Open or short circuit in MAP sensor wire: • Faulty MAP sensor
07 Blinks • Hard to start at a low temperature (ECM controls using preset value; coolant temperature: 85° C/185° F)
• Loose or poorly connected ECT sensor connector: • Open or short circuit in ECT sensor wire: • Faulty ECT sensor
08 Blinks • Poor engine response when operating the throttle quickly (ECM controls using preset value; throttle opening: 0° )
• Loose or poorly connected TP sensor connector: • Open or short circuit in TP sensor wire: • Faulty TP sensor
09 Blinks • Engine operates normally (ECM controls using preset value; intake air temperature: 28° C/82° F)
• Loose or poorly connected IAT sensor connector
• Open or short circuit in TP sensor wire: • Faulty IAT sensor
10 Blinks • Engine operates normally at low altitude
• Engine idles roughly at a high altitude (ECM controls using preset value; barometric pressure: 760 mm Hg/1,013 hPa)
• Loose or poorly connected BARO sensor connector: • Open or short circuit in BARO sensor wire: • Faulty BARO sensor
11 Blinks • Engine operates normally
• Loose or poorly connected vehicle speed sensor connector
• Open or short circuit in vehicle speed sensor wire: • Faulty vehicle speed sensor
12 Blinks • Engine does not start
• Loose or poorly connected No. 1 injector connector: • Open or short circuit in No. 1 injector wire: • Faulty No. 1 injector
13 Blinks • Engine does not start
• Loose or poorly connected No. 2 injector connector: • Open or short circuit in No. 2 injector wire: • Faulty No. 2 injector
14 No blinks • Engine does not start

Great information. I do have a question which may be of importance. In your final entry of 41 (no blinks?). Should this in fact say "41 blinks"? Or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks for the article.

my 1800 year 2016 starts every time, runs perfekt but betwen 1400-2000 rpm it misfires just feels like ignition dont go all the way or no gasoline all the way

I have a 2008 GL1800 Navi. I keep hearing about the "F1 Lights". Where is this located? Any photos" If it lights up does it remain on or just blink and then disappear?

It is on the right side of the dash below the temp and fuel gauges. It should come on for a couple seconds when you turn the key on then go off. If it has a fault it will come on and stay on.

My F1 light comes on . I pull over . Put into neutral....nuetral light does not come on but is in nuetral. And the bike turns off when i put the side stand down. Like it not even in nuetral. Also the reverse light is blinking at a fast rate of speed. Whats going on with my wing? I saw no senerio where any of these things happen all together like this. Please help...

Yeah checked all the fuses again....no corrosion or tranished anything could be found.... no one has had this no nuetral indicator light while the Rev light blinks away all fast, and the side stand kills the bike when put down even though its IN the nuetral position ??? Or is my wing an overachiever and just making up its own new codes to make me go insane or worse... sell the wing and buy an older bike with a shat ton less wires?? The amount of lil tiny wires on this bike is ridiculous and fusterating even to look at much less trying to figure out what each one does...

I have a 2004 gl1800. The bike starts and runs normally but will intermittently cut out. The FI light flashes, and using the kickstand method, I pull over, and with the engine still running, put the bike in neutral, and lower the kickstand. The kickstand switch is working because if I do this in gear, the engine quits. Problem is I get no codes. Where do I go from here?
