Leaking oil from alternator

Post by Fuzzyswing » Tue May 15, 2018 6:59 am

I put a after market 90 amp alternator on my 1988 gl1500
And it leaks a small amount of oil
I replaced the o ring that came with it to a Honda oem o ring and it still leaks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Look at a parts list for the rear cover.
I don't believe that the O ring that's on the alternator is for oil. There shouldn't be any oil around the coupler.I would think that there is a seal around the alternator outpur shaft as it leaves the rear cover...Behind the coupler.
The rubber cushions won't like being soaked in oil.
My 88 is dry in this area.
