Wife and I are still heading to Mineral Springs from central Virginia. We will wait till Wednesday morning before we make a final decision. If this thing stalls I could see over 10 inches of rain here possibly more. Wish it would curve back out over the water. I'm worried about the ride back to Virginia and the potential loss of power effecting gas stations. I appreciated the work individuals did to put this together.
Am worried about the weather also. Now that I can get off work weather is a problem. Plus if the wife has trouble here I will not be here to help.

For my self I will wait until Tuesday around 7:30 PM was scheduled to leave Wednesday morning maybe it will go north and stay out in the Atlantic. I no there was a lot of work Setting this up and I for one really appreciate all the guys work Bernie
You can put me down. The Gathering is only about 350 miles for me here in Kentucky, 35 miles south of Louisville. I am mainly a lurker here but look forward to meeting you folks, and local riding there in WV. I know the host motel is sold out, but will reserve a motel somewhere else in Mineral Springs tomorrow. I plan to ride over Wednesday, but must leave to return to KY on Friday, since I have a mandatory meeting here on Saturday morning.
Thanks Much,
Joe Hall
Well sorry to say I am back out again. Florence has got the best of me. Plus don't want to leave the wife to deal with the weather here in Lyman SC. Maybe next year. Hope all who attend have a great time. Now that I have cancelled the storm will go north and back out to sea according to Newton's law.

Just checked the weather for the area and looks like 40 - 50% chance of rain but mainly at night or late afternoon. Still planning on coming and hoping for the best. Rain gear is always packed but hope I don't have to use it. Looking forward to seeing you late Wednesday afternoon. How about posting here when you have checked in with your room number so we can plan to meet for dinner on Wednesday?

Sounds good Jim. I plan to arrive late afternoon tomorrow.

Meeting up with Al (MiWinger51) at Burger King for the Ride down. Looking forward to meeting up with others on the way down.
Sorry some had to cancel for reasons beyond their control. That hurricane had me second guessing too.

Glad you have decided to ride along. I predict a good time will be had by all who make it. So sorry that the storm has ruined the trip for my east coast brethren. See you in the AM
It is raining here very hard tonight in central Virginia and Florence is still out at sea!! We have seen this before and large trees topple over with saturated soils when the wind kicks in. We have decided NOT to attend this gathering. I wanted meet some new friends and enjoy the rides planned over the 3 days. Wish we could move this out in October. The bike is ready, trailer is ready, the wife and myself are ready. Mother nature is not cooperating.
I hope everyone has fun! BE SAFE. Look out for each other. We will try again later. Thanks for sharing the GPX files with me. Thanks for putting this together.
Been on this site for a few years but missed the last gathering. I have reservations Thus-Sat nights, but like most of you, I've been watching the weather; it seems the weekend forecast down there got a tad bit better from yesterday to today; the biggest chance of rain seems to be Friday PM.
Just to the North in Marietta, the forecast is a little better, so it looks like Mineral Wells is just on the edge. The lady at the front desk did tell me that Hampton has suspended their one night penalty fee if you don't cancel two days prior because of the uncertain weather; so that helps. I think I'm going to make my decision at the last minute, hopefully I'll have a chance to meet you guys and enjoy some good riding.

Coming from NY, I have decided to trailer my bike to Mineral Wells only because of rain to and projected rain from PA to NY. Forecast for Mineral Wells is 30-40% chance of rain at night or late afternoon. Riding at the Gathering should be fine but bring your rain suits!
If you feel that you need to cancel then do so. Family and your safety is more important. We will have another Gathering next year.
For those coming, please ride safe and I'll see you Wednesday afternoon.
Sympathies to those in the Carolinas, hope Florence continues to weaken. At least our gathering looks to be catching a break if only for an extra day or so. Still planning to arrive Friday afternoon. Stay safe!
Different weather sites show an improved forecast vs. a couple of days ago, hopefully it stays that way. The plan is to get in tomorrow afternoon, hoping for some good rides on Friday & Saturday.

Had a great ride down yesterday. Larry, Corky and I arrived about 7 in the evening. We rode the Triple Nickel from Zanesville Ohio to the outskirts of Parkersburg. What a ride! Looking forward to three more great rides with all who made it. Mother Nature is smiling on us. The weather forecast has improved tremendously and it appears we are in for a great weekend.
Leaving from south central Pennsylvania in the rain this morning. Hope to to see the weather improve as I head west. It will be great to meet you all later today. Ride safe.
