speedo question

on a 1500 what would let the odometer move but not show the speedometer reading. Looking for some input please :?: :?:

Im sorry I do not know. But that is very interesting.

Mine has no speedometer or odometer working.
I asume its the cable after spinning it with a drill amd getting nothing.

My hub peice seems to work fine.

Mine just arrived today from Cyclemax.com plus some other small items.

I would say its something inside the gauge housing thats failed. But I have not learned about those parts yet.

These may be the issues I have read and experienced so far.
1.Sticky speedometer needle due to oil/grease collected on the pin where the needle rests on,
2.Stuck aluminum cup due to hardened and collected grease around it (that was the problem on my bike),
3.Similar issues preventing the aliminum cup from rotating freely.

Note that there is not any mechanical connection between the cup and the gears.
