Who's up for a ride?

Post by Mountain rider » Sat Jun 23, 2018 12:51 am

I'm looking to round up a few Goldwing guys and do some riding. If you're in or around the Idaho Falls, Idaho area on Sunday the 1st of July, swing into Sportsman's Warehouse around 10am. Hoping to ride about 10:30, heading to Ponds Lodge for lunch and on to Yellowstone for the afternoon. Weather's supposed to be great, come on out and let's ride.
Leslie and I look forward to seeing you.

Oh, how I wish I could.

I’ll get up there someday. I already have a route planned for South Dakota and the Black Hills National Forest that I hope we get to in the 2-3 years.

Idaho-Wyoming-Montana would be awesome within 5 years.

Wish I had lottery money so I could just pay to have you and the Wing brought up for the weekend, we'd love to have you. If you ever get up this way, drop me a line, we'll show you the sights. I've got a big back yard where you can pitch a tent if you need to.

It's not really money holding us back. It's time. We're both still working and our daughter still has a couple more years of high school. That's why I figure we'll start doing more adventures in a couple years. She'll be driving before the end of this summer and more able to take care of things while we're out and about after finishing HS.

Saturday was a little slow at work and I got onto the Honda Trip Planner site. I planned out a route up that way that takes us right through Yellowstone along 26-191-287 that would take us all the way up to Canada with possible loop into and back out of Canada to WA. Then back across Montana to the Black Hills and across SD before heading back home. It would be around 4700 miles and we would have close to three weeks. Too ambitious?

If we do get brave I'll certainly keep ya'll here in the loop, so maybe we could meet up.

Might be a bit ambitious. I think you could do the miles in that time frame, but it leaves you little time to stop and enjoy the sights and locations you pass.

Hey MountainRider -

Hello from Boise. Wish I could get out there on the 1st, but my wife and I are headed out on the bike tomorrow for a trip to the San Juan Islands. We won't be back until the 8th.

I grew up in Idaho Falls and I still have some friends there. Maybe we'll be able to get together for a ride the next time I'm on that side of the state.

Every day is a good day for a bike ride. Some days are just better than others.

Dwight, we'll have to plan a ride. I so envy you guys, I used to live in Oak Harbor on Whidby Island when I was a kid. The San Juans are just North of there. Huge strawberries up there and amazing scenery. Enjoy!!
Maybe we can link up end of August/early September. My wife and I are heading over to Yakima to visit family and plan on passing up that way.
