Clutch slave cylinder removal

Post by Sportbikenomore » Fri Jul 06, 2018 3:15 pm

Hi there!! New to the forum and with a quick question , is is hard to remove the clutch slave cylinder on an 84 gl1200 interstate? Do I have to basically remove the rear end of the bike or it can be done just on a jack without removing anything?

As a matter of fact I just did that last evening when I got home from work. mine is an 1986 not sure if there are any differences. I just put mine on center stand I was able to do the job in about an hour and a half that's bleeding it to ..give or take. There is a black filter thing just above the left foot pedal held in by a 10 mm socket you must remove (only 1 bolt holding it in), and (3).. 8 mm bolt's holding in the clutch slave. I very tight getting the bolt's but do able lay on your back and take your time. I didn't disconnect the hose I was able to fish the whole slave out on right side replaced all the seals and popped it back in..

Was going to post an update yesterday but got sidetracked, well, the job went perfect, the cleaning and rebuild were a breeze thanks to some very informative YouTube videos, is easy to do it on the center stand, a little cramped in there but definitely doable, she is up and running again, thanks for the advice
