Rear air shock

Post by PedroTQ » Sun Jul 08, 2018 10:26 pm

G'day to All,

I have been overhauling my 88 and fitted a new seal on my air shock, I pumped all the ATF out a while ago and only now read the manual stating that not to let the ATF out of the damper. Hmmmm, too late for me now :(

Ok so now how do I fill it? anyone else don the same and how did they fill the damper?

I am thinking of connecting a funnel to the connection point, filling it completely with ATF and pumping the shock in and out until all the air is out and keeping the funnel full all the time.

Regards, Peter.

You can fill it trough the in/outlet of the airhose

Yes, that fills the outer air shock but as the circled in red sections it does not fill the inner damper which stays full of air , thus the shock has no effect, it just bounces about.

The only oil that is in the damper is in there.
There is no other oil in the shock.........It's just a little hard to replace, that's all. You can use a syringe, for example. (Did i spell that correct?)
