Post by Mark1976 » Thu Aug 02, 2018 8:59 pm

Just bought a bike 1982 Honda Goldwing I don’t know the proper shipping order I can’t get it back in a neutral. As one if anybody could help me with the shifting order. Is it one down five up or all down all up. Totally confused

Hi,

The shift order is all the way down is 1st gear.
Up for Neutral, then up for second, third, fourth & fifth.

:)

I’m having a hard time getting into neutral. With the bike off or on

I got a really good deal on the bike. I did get a lot of extra parts. I’m thinking maybe the clutch is bad. It’s been over 20 years since I owned a bike. When I was a young man I was very confident at the repairs. I’m a little older now not as confident

All the way down is 1st.
Neutral is 1/2 up from 1st, 1/2 down from 2nd.
Up for 2 3 4 5.

If the oil was old, thick, dark, dirty, add some SeaFoam to the oil before changing it.
Read directions for how much. The 'shift drum' might be gunked up. After 225K miles mine was & SeaFoam worked well.

I’ll have a look at that tomorrow. Try to see if seafoam hopefully that works. Again thanks for everybody’s advice. It’s been a few years for me. But I love this bike

Adjust your clutch cable.
