GL1500 Ignition Switch

Post by GlassDC2B » Sat Aug 11, 2018 5:34 pm

I think that my ignition switch is going out. I'm curious if anyone has ever just installed an aftermarket Ignition switch of some sort to their bike. If so can you post up a schematic of what you did and possibly what switch you used ? I'm not interested in keeping the current one or shelling out close to $200 and having to replace all the locks and such. Id rather just replace it with an after market and would really appreciate the help if anyone has already done so.

The ones on 1100's are rebuildable.1500's might be to..just open it up clean the contacts add a little solder to the contact point and it should be good for another 10 years..

Ok thanks for the responses but these answers dont address or help me out. Lets try this, I want to install and Aftermarket switch......why just really want to. Has anyone done this for a GL1500 not a GL1200. If so can you please tell me where you terminated each wire and why switch did you use?
