All turn signals flash when one side selected

Post by fnickel » Sun Aug 12, 2018 9:53 am

'92 1500SE. Just a couple of days ago, the signal lights all started flashing when one side was selected. Same on both sides. Signal for left, all of them flash. Signal for right, all of them flash, including the indicators on the dash. Any ideas what might be causing this? I checked the manual, and this does not seem to be the symptom for any of the causes shown. Thanks for your ideas.

Bingo!! Yes you are correct. The thought had crossed my mind that the hazzard flasher switch was perhaps stuck on the on position. But why wouldn't my hazards be flashing continuously then? Well, because they aren't working. A little spray of contact electrical cleaner on the switch, and it released. Directional signals now work fine. Now I just need to figure out why the hazzards aren't working. Most likely the flasher unit. Just need to figure out where it is now. Thanks again.

Flasher relays are under the seat on the fender. Sounds like the hazard flasher relay is defective. I was just about to suggest the hazard switch but you found that first.

Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

More than likely under the trunk! I relocated mine with short extensions. The flasher relays are pretty robust and seem to have an extremely low failure rate, but when they fail it is a PIA to get to them.
