can the air pump on a 82 gl1100A pump other stuff up to?

Hi, I was working on my new ( to me) 82 gl1100A and I started messing around with the air pump system. One question is the red light in the tach display is always on. The guy I bought it off said that it was always on for him even when he bought it. On the warning light it says "don't exceed 80 kliks when this light is on" I checked and the pump is working fine and pumping up both the front and back shocks so what else could that warning light mean?

2nd question, when I was cleaning up the air pump I noticed that there was a valve stem piece where you could screw on an air hose to the pump for some reason. Is this so you can screw on the air hose and say fill up your tires / fill a small air mattress while on a trip? If so then would I just make sure neither the front or back shock is getting the air while turning the system on. Let me know what you think and once again thanks for your help.

As I rember, there's a air pressure switch on the rear right side. One wire to it...disconnect the wire and the light goes off.The switch is often bad.The warning is indicating that there's no air in the suspension system.
You can use the onboard pump for other things but remember it will drain the battery quick.Probably sutable for adding a bit of air to a low tire but absolutely not enough volume to air up a mattress.

Thanks for the reply! Is the one wire at the gauge or on the pump? There is definitely air in the shocks as I just went for a ride and added air and the gauge is showing that the air pressure is up and holding. I just have to find that one wire...let me know and thanx

No, disconnect the wire and the light comes ON. Ground the wire and the light should go off, that will tell if the switch is bad. The switch is behind the right side cover mounted to the master cylinder bolts.
