Do I Have Reverse?
How do I tell if I have the Reverse function on my 1992 GL1500 Interstate? The bike has been triked but that shouldn't affect the Reverse function. I do have a side lever under the seat on the left side. Also, how does this Reverse function work and can it be added to a bike?

Re: Do I Have Reverse?
Interstate models do not have reverse. However if there is a reverse lever the engine has been changed or it isn't an interstate.
Tranny in neutral, pull out and up on the lever until it latches (R will display on the dash unless it is an interstate with a different motor) then press the start button. The starter drives reverse.

Re: Do I Have Reverse?
Interstate did not have a reverse, the reverse lever, if it has reverse is a black lever located by your left knee with your foot on the pegs

This is the reverse lever pulled up:
And the page out of the Owner's Manual for Reverse Riding
But, as others have said, the Interstate did not have reverse.MikeB

Re: Do I Have Reverse?
Okie2ee, , , Please take a pic of that lever and left side for us. My '91 interstate has a GAWD-AWFUL black rubber plug in the spot where the lever would go. Might be an interesting winter project to glue on a "faux" handle to watch everyone go "bug-eyed" when they notice a reverse lever on my Interstate!!!
Could you actually have an Aspy instead of Interstate?? Your ENGINE VIN should shed some light on it.

Re: Do I Have Reverse?
From that picture I would say you don't have an Interstate. I can see what looks like the digital instrument panel and the cassette radio. This cannot be an Interstate but, since you don't have two tone paint I would say that it is an Apsencade. Anyway (as stated earlier) trans in neutral, pull handle out and up, and press starter button.

Hey, Charlie1Horse if you're referencing the picture above that's Mikeb's not Okie2ee's. Hopefully he can post some pictures of his.

Re: Do I Have Reverse?
I finally figured out what the lever below my seat (actually on the Corbin seat) is, it raises the backrest up and down, duh.............
.......I feel the signs of senility approaching..........70+ and still riding............
