Does This Look Familiar

Post by okie2ee » Thu Sep 13, 2018 10:45 pm

Found this rubber washer laying on the driveway in the area where I had been working on my front wheel. I can't find anywhere where it looks like it might go on the front wheel.

Typical leftover part syndrome, not sure where else it could have come from. Thanks

Does it look like a lip seal to you?
Does it resemble a grommet?

I can think of one place it would go but it would have to be oblong. That would be under the small front fender filler. If it was oblong, it would be the friction ring that holds the small (and expensive to replace) front fender filler piece.

But this item is hard to identify and may be too large for the fender filler friction o-ring.

Check the grommets on each side that hold the "fork fender cover". That cover has a "tab" on one end and the "boss" on the other end goes through this grommet. The dimensions seem a bit big to me, , ,but thats the only grommet I recall on the front area. Maybe around the speedometer cable area, , ,check there too.

BTW, , , did you ever get to the bottom of that reverse lever on your interstate??? I'm just curious as hell, , , ,good luck m'friend

Definitely part of a body part grommet. Have a look at whatever body parts you took off and just put back on.
