Cracked Panel

Post by rjmax55@gmail.com » Mon Sep 24, 2018 7:32 pm

I have a 1998 1500 GL GOLDWING Aspencade that was recently vandalized. The left side Shelter Panel(where CB radio and air vent is) was kicked or punched and is cracked in 3 places. Problem is the body shop that I took it to has tried many places to get a replacement and have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know if there is any GOLDWING graveyards where a used replacement could be bought ?

You could check ebay for used GL1500 parts.
Or https://www.straightwings.com/store/GL1 ... sed-Parts/
Also, there are some parts in this forum link. /Store/New-Used ... =undefined

Also, you can repair it with ABS cement. I have made several repairs on my project bike. The parts are ABS and it works great.

Be patient, keep watching ebay. It took me nearly a year but I found just the same panel (inner fairing) in excellent condition there. It is even the same color so I don't have to paint. Mine was cracked down the left side of the CB and vent and the bottom bolt tab was broken off but, patience prevailed. However this crack didn't keep me from enjoying the ride for nearly four years while looking for a replacement. Again 'Patience, Grasshopper'.

Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

Tony is right! ABS repairs, once you get a handle on a few basics, is relatively simple. Do you have any photos of the cracks?
