What the hell happened???? The price for the camera on Amazon.ca went from $449.00 CA to $770.00 CA and is no longer available through prime.
Gotta be a Cali thang. I just clicked on the link above in OCD Tronic's post and I see $338 from Amazon.

Canada was out of stock for Amazon.ca fulfillment. They just got more in and price should be back to normal.

I've been thinking about this camera to replace my GoPro that of course only faces front.

The thing holding me back is the trailer I tow. Putting it under the trunk is great protection for the camera but it definitely will be blocked by the trailer when I am towing. So I have been thinking of up above but then it's out in the open for the idiots to damage or try to steal.

I'm thinking I put it under the trunk like WingAdmin did and then leave it alone. I don't have back view when I am towing and that's the way it is. But I'm still working on it to figure out what to do with it.

Any thoughts?

A couple thoughts.

First, I ended up mounting under the trunk on my GL1800. I have not yet recorded with a trailer in place but now I going to have to try it out.

If you use the GoPro type mounts, you could always keep it close when you don't have the trailer and add extensions and relocate to a better viewing spot when you use the trailer.

You could go under the rear speaker pod. I tried this with a GoPro and it was okay but I captured a fair amount of the trunk side in the view.

if you have a trunk rack or spoiler you could hide it underneath. I thought of this on my GL1800 but wasn't sure about routing the cable(s). I had a ham antenna mount on the GL1500 trunk rack and was able to mostly hide the cable and then tuck behind the backrest. I almost bought a trunk rack for my GL1800 just to provide a good place for the camera. I would have used a black flat one.

In my GL1500 I made a mount for a brake light that bolted on behind the backrest and then came out high and flat right at the top of the trunk. I used a piece of thin stainless and I think it came out clean and unobtrusive. Beside, when the strobe brake light came on, no one looked at the mount. You would probably catch a lot of trunk lid in the view however.

I have thought of under the luggage rack, to the side of the trunk towards the back. I'm just working on it. I am pretty sold on the camera because it sounds like what I want, especially the rear view. I have time because I can't buy it for another 1-3 months. I'm hoping closer to the 1 though. My GoPro is nice but I like that rear view.

I have a Bunkhouse so it sits up a little higher than normal but if I can't see past it, I can't see past it. I really want that rear view for when I am riding without the trailer and can't be seen as easily.

Thank you for your input and let me know how it works with the trailer when you try it out.

Ride Safe!

I really appreciate the thorough review and video and it looks great! I am very interested in the Innovv K2, but have found some forums discussing a battery drain issue. Apparently when using 'park' mode, the battery drain is quite significant.

We are planning a 3 week tour this summer including Lake Superior and certainly don't want to be concerned about battery related issues.

Have you experienced any issues?

I had the camera stick "on" a couple times when parked - but it didn't have any effect on the battery because my bike was plugged into a Battery Tender. However a firmware update on the camera fixed that, and it hasn't happened again since.

A customer of ours @DHA2018Wing is looking for help on suggestions where to mount his new K2 on a newer 2018/2019 Goldwing Tour Or 2018/2019 Tour DTC. Anyone? He has the install lined up this Weekend so needs to form a plan quick.

"Has anyone installed an INNOVV k2 on a 2018 or 2019 Goldwing Tour Or 2018 or 2019 Goldwing Tour DTC? I am looking for examples (photos) of where and how the two cameras are mounted (especially without 3M double sided tape) given the bike has so much plastic. Thanks."

It's been a few months, but I finally went out and installed this on my Magna. My cellphone bugged out and didn't save some of the pictures I took :x

Wired the 12V switched line into my parking light, so that I can keep it running while the bike is parked if need be. Mounting the cameras was easier than I thought it would be. One bolted to the triple-tree, and one on the license plate holder.

Then I went to do the first-run SD format... And everything fell apart. The INNOVVK2 app refused to connect, even after I looked up the "use airplane mode" suggestion online. And it looks like there's no fallback webpage being served by the device... So I went to the INNOVV website and found a labyrinthine horror show of documentation, eventually getting to the dropbox page of firmware, downloaded the firmware, dragged it over to the SD card, and rebooted the camera system. The lights did not blink like the instruction manual said they would. Apparently you have to first use the app to format the SD card before you can do this firmware update... Seriously? In any event, it either worked or it didn't, but nothing changed and I still cannot access the settings from the app.

I am angry. I see this kind of BS constantly on consumer products. Companies produce a reasonably capable item, and then neuter it by making the customer-facing bluetooth/wifi/usb service as cheaply and poorly as possible. I'm an engineer. I work on embedded systems. If this crap was open sourced I could at least attempt fixing it, but instead all I can do is waste my time running in circles rebooting my phone, restarting the app, and then whining on the internet. Absolutely infuriating.

For over $300 this thing is looking like a pretty bad purchase right now.

ctag give me a call and I can talk you through what's going on: 775-372-7270
Is it unusual to have to format an SD card? I guess coming from dashcams I'm used to it (although they use the same chipset as the K2).
Couple things to check:
Is the bike running when you attempt to connect? The DVR does have a low-power cutoff. It will not start up the wifi transmitter if it does not have enough power.
Make sure you have red to positive, black to ground and yellow to switched accessory. I have seen these misbehave with the red/yellow are switched.

Any card larger than 32GB is exFAT. The DVR will format all large cards to FAT32.

Card needs to be FAT32 for the firmware update to work.

You're in a bit of a catch 22 situation.

You'll need to use s 32GB card to perform the update since the card will only come FAT32 by default.

Updating the firmware should fix the stuck condition. (app was also updated)

Sorry I was being a jerk. Encountering situations like this really mashes my buttons, because I want to fix it but know that I can't. I'll recoup my gumption and get this figured out.

Thanks. I'm not sure if formatting is usual, but the instruction sheet mentioned it before first-use. I assumed it'd format and create folders for files.

I tried starting the unit with the bike ignition "on" and also with just the USB port supplying power. The wifi network does come up, and I can connect to it with the default password. I double checked that the power wires and yellow switched wire are hooked up correctly, and checked with a multimeter that the switched line is seeing 12V when the ignition is on.

I'll give OCD Tronic's suggestion a try before calling, if not I should be able to get back out to the bike mid-week sometime.

Thank you. I'll get a smaller SD card, manually format it, and try the firmware update again.

Got a 16 gig SD card, formatted it, and put the K2.bin from "K2.20190614.V0.57" on it. The system appeared to update, with the camera icon blinking appropriately.

Still cannot connect from the app. Have tried with phone in and out of airplane mode, and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. It's at version 1.3.1 from the play store.

I noticed that the system went ahead and made the K2 video folder and started recording video though, so at least for the moment it will work as a dashcam.

Could be something going on with your phone. Can you test with another friend or family members device? That will help rule out things quickly.

Two announcements:

1) The bug that requires Airplane mode to connect on some newer Android devices with the latest OS has been identified and a workaround fix is in the works.

2) The OCD Tronic & INNOVV North America Sales + Support team will be at the AiMExpro in Columbus Ohio September 26-29 (2019) Booth # 2541

I was able to connect with a friend's phone and configure the camera. I can download footage by pointing a browser at the camera's IP address (192.168.1.254) which brings up an index of the video folders. Now the only concern is that "Park" footage apparently doesn't get deleted automatically so I'll have to remember to dig the SD card out of the bike periodically and clear it manually.

OCD, please post when the software workaround is available. I will then attempt to get my two units functional; neither of which currently works as it's supposed to. Thanks, this has been an exceedingly frustrating purchase of something that's supposed to be plug and play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRR.
