I recently purchased a 1982 Honda goldwing GL1100 from a friend who had just got it in a trade blah blah. It runs great.42xxx on the odometer. I took all the chrome off (crash bars n tow plate all of it). Fairing is gone. Bags all gone. Now the seat has to go but I was wondering if there was any way to find a seat that would fit the 82 gl1100 that had a much smaller profile. 1 seat maybe enough for a 2nd. Thanks for you inputtt

All custom stuff I have never seen a manufacture's retro for a 10000's or 1100's single seat mod. Check the custom forum over at NGW..

You might want to perhaps repaint the front crash bars (I know you don't want the chrome) and reinstall them, even if you just cut them down a bit. They're there really for a good reason. Otherwise a gentle tipover which would otherwise be a non-event with zero damage, instead turns into a valve-cover-punching, aluminum-head-damaging, expensive repair. The heads and valve covers were not designed to take the weight of the bike.
