2006 model

Post by COOLRYANEXPRESS » Tue Oct 09, 2018 5:01 pm

Looking at a 2006 model.....black with a lot of add ons. 49,000 miles for $7300. Carfax is clean and has all maintenance records including gear oil and oil change in the last month. Front fork seals have also been replaced. Also, brand new tires. Private seller is the 3rd owner. Anything I need to look for or be wary of?

All maintenance records to peruse would be helpful, to show if the brake recalls have been done. Other than that, the 2006 models had no issues that I know of. Price is not bad.

I will ask to see if those are available, thanks. I have seen and ridden it and it seems to have been well taken care of. He has added highway pegs, belly pan, passenger armrests, trunk rack, caliper covers, wind deflectors and some other things as well. It is the nav/comfort model with heated grips and seats.

Yep, I would make sure the tank was full, oil up to snuff, and rider with the time to ride.

Sounds like a good deal. The price is fair enough, especially if it's been well cared for.
I would take a good look at it to see if it's been kept indoors, or at least covered. The leather on the seat should look good, the plastic covers on the headlights should be crystal clear and not cloudy. The paint should also look really good and not be all faded out. It may just be a personal thing for me, but I tend to feel like anyone who has worked to protect it that well for 12 years may have taken better care of it overall (as opposed to someone who just let it sit out in the yard for weeks/months at a time).
Your Honda dealer should be able to run the VIN number and tell you if the rear brake recall was done (my dealer did for my 2007).
49,000 miles is nothing if the engine has been taken care of. Lots and lots of miles left in it.

Price seems fair, just depends on the locale.

if it looks to be in good condition, no obvious rattles, leaking fluids, no bad scrapes on the frame underneath, just get it and go.

My 2002 had 97,500 miles on it when I bought it, and it runs like a new one at 114,000 miles

Sounds like a good deal. I just had the brake recall done after I bought mine. No charge from honda. Also look under as much as you can for any rust or corrosion.
