Foot warmer cables

Post by RogerT45 » Wed Oct 10, 2018 12:58 pm

Just bought a 1500 SE that has foot warmers and the control knob but the cables have been cut by the lower vents and removed from the fairing control knob. I have managed to purchase some replacement cables but can't find anything in the manual to show how they route from the vents to the control knob.
Does anyone have a diagram or photos hat can give me a clue, so I can run them in and get the vents working again.

I had a look through the manuals I have as well, and found nothing.

I looked through some pictures from my various pull-aparts, and found only a couple, showing a little bit of the left-side cable:

Without any other specific information, I would route them as best as I could, keeping them straight as possible (no sharp curves), and away from anything hot or that moves, to prevent wear.

Thanks for getting back to me. Those couple of photos will help to get me started.

I noticed the joint where the cables split in your post about timing belt replacement, behind right lower panel. I also noticed the cable coming up in the right pocket area to the control knob, in your post about replacing dash panel bubs with LED's. This now gives me a very good idea about the routing.
I'm really glad you take very clear photos. I always take them for my own reference but never thought how useful they would be to other people. I might have to go through my library to see if I can logically organise them into useful sequences for posting.

Here are two pictures that show how the cable(s) run. On the first one you see the splitter which just rests inside the fairing and then the right cable (riding direction) runs to almost the middle of the bike in front of the belt covers and then loops back to the connection of the door of the heating underneath the belt covers. The one for the left just runs in between of the frame and under the belt covers to the connection point
